Bowtie is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. This role is crucial in maintaining the performance, reliability, and scalability of our cutting-edge insurance technology platform, ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

This is a strategic and hands-on technical leadership role that innovates and continuously improves Bowtie's infrastructure and system architecture.

Infrastructure Management

• Ensure the reliability and performance of the production and non-production environment/ system through monitoring and incident response.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, focusing on comprehensive coverage and clarity.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention in system management.

Performance Optimization

• Conduct regular performance tests and analysis to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
• Work with software engineers to incorporate performance improvements in application design.

Security and Compliance

• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Stay informed of the latest security threats and proactively address potential vulnerabilities.

Collaboration and Support

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and customer support to align on objectives and deliver consistent service levels.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

To give you a taste of how success will look like, these are the expected deliverables for the first 3 to 12 months:

• Separate system uptime of B2B and B2C bowtie business while maintain one bowtie system
• Sunset our async task architecture and deliver a robust and scalable alternative with all tasks running on it
• Improve LTC(Lead Time to Change) by 30%
• Deliver monitoring and measurement dashboard for squads

Qualifications and Experience

You are passionate about high-quality code, unit-tests, documentation, and production services

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a site reliability engineering or similar role, with expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or similar.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, CI/CD, and automation, e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, CircleCI 
• Experience in shell scripting (e.g., bash/tcsh/zsh) 
• Building and operating container orchestrating systems (Docker, Kubernetes, vagrant and micro-services)
• Experience with large environment system administration 
• Experience with measuring, analyzing, and optimizing performance 
• Strong understanding of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed system concepts
• Bilingual/native fluency in English.
