Welcome to Bowtie Engineering!
Revolutionising Insurance Experience Through Technology
Bowtie Engineers are never kept at the "backstage"
We believe that our engineers can contribute, build, and drive a lot more if they are actively participating in product planning discussions, and having direct conversations with customers and end-users.
You will be making a direct impact on our product and innovation direction and progress. At Bowtie, you are not a coder or a "vendor", but an engineer!
Life as an Engineer in Bowtie
At Bowtie, we're all about collaborative problem-solving, and it's what makes us a successful team!
How we work
Our engineers work in dynamic cross-functional teams and take ownership of the entire software development process from conception to deployment.
With regular interaction with colleagues across departments, our engineers ensure that any engineering challenges are identified and tackled at an early stage.
At the moment, we are organized into:
- 4 teams: Front-end, Back-end, DevSecOps, Mobile, and
- 3 cross-functional squads with members from engineering, design, product, and marketing
We adapt Basecamp's "Shape Up" methodology and operate under a 6-week + 2-week cycle.

Your Career Path in Bowtie
Getting into people management is not the only way to advance in their career - and we value good individual contributors (ICs) as much as good people managers!
To make sure that we are not losing a good IC for a poor manager, we provide both IC and managerial tracks. Most experienced hires will start off as Senior Engineer (Level 3) - to learn about the team, our code, our products, and the processes.
Mentorship System
We believe the mentorship system is a good way to help our colleagues to learn and grow faster!
It connects experienced engineers with newbies to help them with their careers. Through 1:1 meetings to talk about work, the mentors give advice on how to do well in their job and grow their careers.
The mentors can advance their communication skills, refresh their knowledge, and gain new perspectives or knowledge from their mentees!
