Head of Finance (Reporting and Operations)
Role Summary

The Head of Finance will lead the finance function of Bowtie, overseeing financial reporting, financial operations, and compliance while driving financial strategy and process improvements. This role ensures the accuracy of financial statements, the efficiency of financial processes, and the strength of internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and experience in the insurance industry.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, auditors, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Lead the year-end audit process, liaising with external auditors and implementing audit recommendations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS 17, local statutory filings).
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure best practices.
Financial Operations & Control
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury functions, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and capital allocation in alignment with the company's strategy.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and mitigate financial risks.
- Optimize financial systems and processes to improve efficiency.
- Work closely with underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams to ensure the accurate integration of financial data.
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, and foster a high-performance culture.
- Partner with the CFO and executive team on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Provide insights and analysis to support business decisions, profitability, and growth initiatives.
- Identify and implement cost optimization and process improvement opportunities.
About you
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
- Experience:
- 12+ years of progressive finance experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role within the insurance/financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting (IFRS 17, SAP, reserving, reinsurance).
- Solid experience with financial reporting, audit, and regulatory compliance for insurers.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
