Medical Network, Assistant Manager/ Manager
Bowtie Medical Network Manager/Assistant Manager: roll up your sleeves to optimize panels, negotiate with clinics, and build a seamless, patient‑centred network with a diverse, collaborative
Role Summary
Bowtie’s mission is to make insurance good again, and our vision is to build a category-defining health insurance company.
As the Medical Network Manager, you won't just be setting the strategy—you will be executing it. You will roll up your sleeves to dig into utilization data, negotiate directly with clinic groups, and handle complex daily operations shoulder to shoulder with your team members. If you love building systems from scratch and aren't afraid to get into the weeds of medical operations, this is the role for you.
About the Role
You will be working in a fast-paced organization that promotes cross-functional collaboration to overhaul our medical panels to provide best-in-class health / medical services to our members.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
Key Milestones
First 6 Months: Get in the Weeds & Optimize
Panel Diagnostics: Dive deep into the raw usage data of our existing Group Medical panels. You will personally map out the friction points in the customer experience and implement immediate, hands-on fixes.
Pricing & Renegotiation: Crunch the numbers on current pricing structures and get directly on the phone or in the room with healthcare providers to renegotiate terms, enhancing Bowtie’s bargaining power and securing better rates.
6-18 Months: Build & Integrate
Architect Our Network: Build Bowtie's proprietary medical network from the ground up. You won't just be conceptualizing the strategy; you will be drafting the SLAs, onboarding the anchor clinics, and establishing the operational workflows.
Cross-Functional Execution: Work directly in the trenches with our Product, Tech, and Claims teams to wire the medical journey (booking, consulting) seamlessly into the insurance journey (pre-approvals, direct billing).
BAU/Daily Operations
Frontline Provider Admin & Management: Actively manage relationships with panel doctors, clinics, and hospital groups. You will personally handle high-level escalations and complex daily issues that require a senior touch.
The success of this role will be measured by:
1. Panel Usage Optimization — Map panel usage data; fix top friction points.
2. Network Build & Activation — Onboard X anchor clinics with live direct-billing within 18 months.
3. Member Experience & Resolution — Lift panel CSAT; cut escalation resolution time.
About you
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in healthcare administration, health insurance network management, or TPA operations; with at least 1 year of experience working on a network role within an insurance company.
A "Builder" Mentality: You are highly scrappy and execution-oriented. You thrive in a zero-to-one environment where you have to build the plane while flying it.
Negotiation & Persuasion: Proven, direct experience negotiating fee schedules and contracts with medical providers. You know how to close a deal that benefits both the patient and the business.
Data-fluent: You don't need someone else to pull insights for you; you are comfortable looking at a spreadsheet of utilization data and spotting the story it tells.
Customer-Centric: You are deeply empathetic to the patient experience and are driven to eliminate the administrative hurdles they face in the healthcare system.
